Milwaukee urges residents to stop taking vapors after several teenagers would have been hospitalized for lung damage related to the e-cigarette.

The city issued a health alert regarding vaping Wednesday, USA Today reported.

"We continue to learn more about the health effects of e-cigarettes," said Milwaukee Health Commissioner Jeanette Kowalik in a statement.

"As the city's public health authority, the MHD is committed to protecting the public from the dangers of second-hand exposure."

State officials said there were 16 confirmed cases of lung disease linked to electronic cigarettes in Wisconsin, and another 15 cases are under investigation, according to the newspaper.

In addition, federal officials have reported that there are about 200 potential lung diseases related to products reported by 22 states.
