The Minnesota Twins had lost the first game of the series to the Chicago White Sox against a squirrel and were looking to tie the score tonight at Target Field. After the Cleveland Indians fell into the hands of the New York Mets (yeah, we're watching the scorecard, duh), the Bomba Squad was lucky enough to make it a three-game lead in the AHL.
Two silent legs of each team lead to a third inning round trip. Michael Pineda, leaving for the Twins tonight, would allow the Pale Hose to score at the top of the table. A single from Yolmer Sanchez will be followed by two batters later with a Tim Anderson double, scoring Sanchez and leading the White Sox to score first. The next hitter, Jose Abreu, the double killer, would bring a four Pineda dressmakers to the back of the overhang to the right of the field, just in front of the Bomba Counter the Twins device. Jealous a lot, Abreu ?????????
This 3-0 lead accumulated by the White Sox would be reduced to a one-point lead after the start of the inning. A double of Mitch Garver would be followed by a start and a withdrawal. But do not be afraid: Max Kepler is here, and he picked up a curve at Reynaldo Lopez – also at the overhang of the right field – for his 34th bomba of the year. Nelson Cruz announced his return to the bottom of the fourth quarter with a solo shot out of the first pitch that he saw in the attack, and the match was tied at 3-3.
Things got exciting in the fifth inning for the home team. In fact, he went directly between Kepler's wickets. This magic worked as Jorge Polanco found himself blocked and Cruz doubled in a straight line to the pitch, hitting Cave and Kepler. Eddie Rosario scored one on the right side, scoring Polanco and Cruz. The twins lead 7-3, and the squirrel looks somewhere with a smile.
A solo shot by Anderson would return the score to 7-4 after the sixth run, Big MIke's only task after the third inning. Sit down and put down your beer for the next sentence you're about to read: Minnesota Twins starting pitcher Michael Pineda has completed seven innings tonight. Damn, this squirrel is really magical.
A team effort from Tyler Duffey and Sergio Romo would give two strikes on catches for a clean eighth summit. Minnesota would add only a little assurance: a double Miguel Sano RBI, a double loaded with bases and a brightener by C.J. Cron and a doubled RBI by Kepler at the bottom of the eighth. By the way, it was billed to Kelvin Herrera. Just for good measure, Polanco scored his 19th circuit of the season – that of the former Twin Hector Santiago – to score him 14-4.
The Twins and White Sox will face tomorrow in the game. Lucas Giolito will pick up the Pale Hose while Jake Odorizzi will pick up the Twins. The game time is set at 12: 10p Central.
