AMIRET – A rural woman from Garvin who was reported missing on Friday was found on Sunday afternoon, in a van that ended up in a ditch along the Lyon 2 County Road west of Amiret, Lyon County Sheriff’s Office announced.

Denise Tekrony, 58, was rushed to Sanford Tracy Hospital for treatment of minor injuries sustained in the crash, the sheriff’s office said.

Lyon County Sheriff Eric Wallen said law enforcement was “not positive” how long Tekrony and the vehicle had been in the ditch when she was found. The slope of the ditch was steep and it was difficult to see the pickup from the road, he said.

Tekrony was the subject of a missing person investigation that had been ongoing since Friday morning, Wallen said. The Minnesota State Patrol Aviation Division, cellphone and social media providers, and financial institutions have assisted in a thorough search of the area, the sheriff’s office said.

At approximately 1 p.m. Sunday, the sheriff’s office responded to a report of a vehicle in the north ditch on the 2700 block of County Road 2. MPs found Tekrony in a 2007 Dodge Dakota pickup truck in the ditch.

“You couldn’t see it from the road” because of the slope of the ditch and its distance from the roadway, Wallen said. However, a passerby driving a combine could see the pickup from above and called out to it, he said.

Tekrony was rushed to hospital by ambulance Tracy for treatment of her injuries, the sheriff’s office said.
