COLUMBIA, MB (AP) – According to officials at the University of Missouri, a student on the Columbia campus is suffering from tuberculosis and could have infected other people.

The school said Monday that the Boone County Health Department was working with university health officials to determine whether any other students and staff needed to be tested.

Privacy laws prohibit the disclosure of any information about the student.

The sick student left the campus voluntarily. Only students with active infections can spread the disease to others through close contact.

So far this year, six cases of active TB have been reported in Missouri.
