MIZ ATONES …

To summarize: The series began with Miz in the ring, recalling Shane McMahon's earlier betrayal. He recounted that "because of his particular interest in WrestleMania, he had spent his career taking shortcuts and taking advantage of people. He said that he had ruined all relationships other than those with his wife and child.

He then recounted how his partnership with Shane had directly led to a success that had led his father to tell him that he loved him and that he was proud of him for the first time. He said the guys behind the scenes had warned him that Shane was different from the way he showed up on TV, but he did not want to believe it. Miz then became emotional by telling the story of Shane attacking his father.

Miz went on to say that he was not born with any privilege and called it a true success story. He said that he was always told that it was way, but that his hard work would defeat someone who did not work hard enough. He compared that to Shane, who he thought was not the best in the world, but was rather the "worst", just like his father. Miz then gave Kofi Kingston a boost before closing the promo.

Evaluation: It was very good. Miz's explanation of his years of treachery was moving and believable. As fans, we understood why he was doing all these things. He was an outsider doing everything he could to go ahead.

I liked that Miz explicitly mentions his wife and child as relationships he had not let suffer, thus avoiding the WWE face of using a bad relationship with a woman and her children as evidence of their hard work. On the other hand, continual references to Miz's father having never told him that he loved her before, made him a father.

Provide: With all the emotion behind this story and the fact that Shane is not a full-time worker, Miz should really win at WrestleMania.

BECKY & CHARLOTTE FACE OFF …

To summarize: At the beginning of the first hour, Kevin Owens participated in the "KO Show". His guests were Charlotte and Becky Lynch. Owens read various previous speeches by Becky, Ronda and Charlotte, but concluded by saying that fans did not want to hear them speak. They wanted them to fight. Owens then left the ring and the two men started fighting.

The referees and backstage hands struggled to control Becky and Charlotte. The fight continued in fits and starts as they separated and escaped. Becky threw a security officer into the barricade at one point. Eventually, the camera went behind the scenes as she continued to fight, ending the segment.

Evaluation: Finishing this segment by going to a behind-the-scenes interview while the fight was going on was a direct response to the WCW. Otherwise it was ok, not great, not terrible.

Provide: Nothing new happened tonight to make Becky beat Charlotte at WrestleMania.

To summarize: Throughout the night, many faces (Owens, AJ, Miz) gave Kofi candles. Just before the scheduled challenge, Daniel Bryan came out and challenged Kofi's status with the McMahons. He said that Kofi had been chosen for an undeserved title shot out of the tag division. He said that Kofi was a B + player and that the fans liked him because B + was pretty good.

In the glove:

  • Kofi def. Sheamus with Trouble in Paradise, followed by an immediate European Uppercut of Cesaro
  • Kofi def. Cesaro with SOS
  • Kofi def. Rowan of DQ after an attack with a chair followed by a new brutality after the match
  • Kofi def. Samoa Joe slipping out of a Muscle Buster attempt in a rollup; Joe released Kofi with a Coquina Clutch after the match
  • Kofi def. Randy Orton with a rollup

After the match, Vince McMahon congratulated Kofi, but then said that Kofi had to defeat another opponent to move to WrestleMania. The opponent was Daniel Bryan. Vince ordered Big E and Xavier to leave the ring and wished him good luck.

Kofi nearly won the match with SOS, but Bryan ended up scoring with one knee.

Evaluation: Kofi is treated unfairly again. This angle has already reached the maximum heat, so these additional denials to Kofi are only used to kill time before WrestleMania.

Provide: According to the bookings and the reactions of the fans, it seems more and more probable that Kofi wins the title at WrestleMania.
