We also had games with consequences for the series in Miami, Arizona, Colorado, San Diego, Philly, Minnesota, Texas and Houston. It was enough to keep us busy. Acuna is getting closer to the 40/40 season
Braves in the world Ronald Acuna Jr. is getting closer to more and more of a 40/40 historic season. Thursday night he flew second and third bases in the first heat, giving him 36 flights of the year. Several players have almost 40/40 seasons – Matt Kemp scored 39 homers and 40 steals in 2011, including – but only four really did. The Braves have another 14 games to play this season and Acuna averages a stellar 4-game, 3.8-game all-in. Falls occur, but he is likely to record the fifth season of 40/40 history.
Yankees wins two, loses three
Thursday was either a very good day or a very bad day for the Yankees, a bit of both. Brewers win seventh place in a row
The less Christian Brewers Christian Yelich remained hot as they beat the Marlins in Miami on Thursday for their seventh consecutive victory. Ryan Braun scored his 19th run of the season and collected four Milwaukee lifters for four perfect innings to keep the win.
The victory temporarily allowed the Brewers to double the half after the Cubs and take second place alone in NL Central. It's a close battle for this last playoff spot in NL. Thursday, five teams – the Cubs, Brewers, Mets, Phillies and Diamondbacks – played two and a half games before this coveted qualification. As for the SportsLine projection model (@SportsLine on Twitter), this gives the Brewers the highest rating of this quintet in the playoffs with 55.1%, and that was before Thursday's win.
The Mets hit six home runs against the Diamondbacks
The Mets crushed the D-Backs by a score of 9-0 on Wednesday and Thursday, the slaughter was even bloodier with a score of 11-1. Along the way, the Queenslanders crashed six circuits, including Michael Conforto's 30th and Juan Lagares' duo, who had only three home runs in 119 games this season. These six players are the most shots that the Mets have had in a match since April 11, 2017. Hill hurts his knee
On Thursday night, Dodgers right arm Rich Hill returned from the 60-day casualty list and made his first start in three months. He had been absent since 19 June with a flexor constraint. Hill's return did not last long. He faced six batters and recorded two outs before leaving his Baltimore start with another injury.
Jon Morosi of the MLB Network announced that Hill had left the match with a left knee problem. He will go for tests. Hill missed the first four weeks of the regular season because of a left knee strain. So it's the second time this year that this knee is causing him trouble.
The Dodgers did not necessarily rely on Hill to come back as a starter. He was scheduled to play two rounds on Thursday and was considered a possible option for the playoffs. Depending on the severity of his last knee injury, Hill, 39, may not be available at all in October. Los Angeles hopes the next tests will bring good news.
Statistic of the day: Giolito breaks White Sox record for consecutive withdrawals
