Valheim rules. Exploring is fun, building is fun, kiting trolls around the islands while crying softly to yourself as you dance on the edge of razor’s death is fun. But nothing is perfect, especially not the early access games. So I don’t think we have to kid ourselves here: ValheimThe inventory is zero. Praise be to Odin for the modders.

Although the incredibly popular The survival game mod scene is very, very young, modders are already gone pork crazy with improved quality of life. It’s good because ValheimThe inventory of, in particular, is limited and temperamental. Part of it – its small size in particular – is on purpose, encouraging players to congregate at communal bases and work together to build items like carts to carry more supplies.

But other things just don’t make sense. Armor, for example, stays in your inventory even when equipped, taking up valuable space and requiring you to stop and throw resources into the woods every five minutes to compensate. And chuck, you have to, because you can’t just destroy things that you don’t need. This, too, is painful: let’s say you are back at your base and realize that you have superfluous resources or materials. Clutter your party’s chests with them, walk away from your base and drop items to the floor or annoy everyone by dropping items on the floor in your base (this one, this is me).

Fortunately, a handful of inventory mods can alleviate all of these issues. First, there is the “Equipment and Quick Locations” mod by RandyKnapp. It gives equipped items their own separate inventory segment, and it also provides you with a few more quick slots with hot keys – useful for potions and the like. If you’re still running out of space (and you will be), then the “Delete inventory items” mod by Aedenthorn is probably your best bet. It allows you to select items and delete them permanently. Be warned: this means they will be gone forever, so choose wisely.

If you want to stretch a little more outside the intended limits of the game, there is also the “MoreSlots” mod by Fang86. This gives you more inventory slots, with the caveat that “you are doing do not lose items to death. “It’s a bit of a cheat, so you might object to it if you try to play pure. If you just want to bring your disturbed architectural dreams to life, however – the rest of the game be damned – so knock yourself out.

I only scratched the surface of the already available Valheim mods. If you want more general improvements in quality of life, the “Valheim Mod “More” by NX_ is a must. It improves construction and allows players to change stats. If you are looking for something a little less practical, you can also take the first person mod by Kailen_ for a ride. Finally, you get to see the horrible little faces of Greydwarves up close (and your overloaded inventory).
