Catherine O’Hara, the comedian and actor known previously for appearing in several Christopher Guest documentaries with Schitt Creek co-creator Eugene Levy, has even noticed a change in his personal style since his appearance in the Pop TV series.

In a recent New Yorker article, the magazine interviewer noted to O’Hara that she was “dressed like Moira.” O’Hara admitted that while traveling, she “always did black and white” because she found it “easier”. However, his infamous Schitt Creek character caused O’Hara to wear more black and white clothes.
“… My eye is drawn to it more than ever,” she told The New Yorker. The interviewer also noted the actor’s “big jewels”.
“Before playing Moira, I probably wouldn’t have worn so many rings at once,” O’Hara explained.

Earlier this year, Netflix released Best wishes, warmest regards: A farewell to Schitt’s Creek, an interview and a backstage special for season 6 of the series. In the 45-minute documentary, O’Hara shared that the idea behind Moira’s vast, colorful collection of wigs was actually her idea. In fact, the fictional alum had several ideas for his wardrobe.

Schitt Creek Co-creator Daniel Levy admitted she wasn’t sure how much O’Hara could bring to the table.
O’Hara also revealed on the Netflix special that his costumes, which Levy would oversee, could last for hours and hours.

While O’Hara has always rocked sequins, giant jewelry, fabulous dresses, and stylish wigs on Schitt CreekMoira Rose’s style was constantly evolving.
“It was a fluke, simpatico – if I had Moira’s vocabulary, I would know how to say it,” O’Hara told The New Yorker of how the costumes have changed over 6 seasons. During various discussions with the Schitt Creek co-designers, Moira’s fashion sense has found its advantage.
“After we all agreed that we were going to do the show, I had lunch with Daniel and Eugene Levy, and I knew we were going to talk about what I was going to be like,” she continued.
O’Hara also revealed that she was inspired by a socialite / fashion icon named Daphne Guinness.

“… I had found all these photos of Daphne Guinness”, explained the actor. “Her wardrobe is so awesome and extreme.” Moira’s costumes also defined O’Hara Schitt Creek character. She shared:
It’s strong and it’s armor, which is perfect when you’ve had your life ripped out from under you, like Moira, and you’re in this place that’s like the city you came out of earlier in life.
Moira’s vibrant and unmistakable personality stems in large part from her over-the-top wardrobe.
O’Hara told The New Yorker, “Every day that I put on these clothes, it makes me stand different, walk different.”
