A Whittier mother of three never had to hold her newborn baby girl before she died of a heart attack and coronavirus complications, her husband said.
Alfonso Gonzalez has said he has to be the strongest for his family.
Her two young sons have had to deal with the recent death of their mother, Vanessa.
New research from researchers at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center indicates that pregnant women who test positive for COVID-19 are not linked to side effects.
“If I break, then they’re going to break, you know what I mean?” I can’t… I can’t show this, ”Gonzalez said.
Part of Vanessa’s long, tragic story that still breaks his heart and still haunts him today is that she never held her newborn baby.
“She was never able to hold her baby. And she couldn’t… ever see her, ”he said.
Vanessa contracted COVID-19 while pregnant.
She was diagnosed on November 4.
Her daughter was expected on November 7.
Despite her diagnosis, she gave birth on November 9 to a healthy daughter named Heaven.
But the hospital forbade her to hold the sky, hug her or be near her.

Then when Gonzalez brought them to their home in Whittier, it was still a heartbreaking situation.
“I was, like, ‘We have to separate you guys. You must be separate. I know you want to see the baby. We’re going FaceTime! We’re going FaceTime with the baby, ”Gonzalez said.
Room to room on iPhones, it’s the only way she sees her child.
So close and yet so far.
She was crying to herself while we were FaceTiming.

He couldn’t wait for his infection to pass and she could finally hold Heaven in her arms.
But it was not.
A few days later, Vanessa had a heart attack and was eventually rushed to UCLA Medical Center.
Gonzalez said doctors believed it was linked to his infection.
She lingered for a month before she died.
She left behind a healthy baby girl and two sons who are sadly missed by their mother.
Gonzalez hopes she is watching from the sky.
“She says, ‘Good job. Good work. See you soon. See you soon, ”Gonzalez said.
Close friends and church members of the couple have created a GoFundMe page to help Gonzalez pay the bills as he struggles with his new life as a single father of three. He had raised nearly $ 13,000 on Thursday.
“So they can give her the appropriate celebration of service of life, you know, that she deserves,” family friend Desiree Vera said.
