Toyota has announced its intention to travel in space during a joint session held today with JAXA, the Japanese equivalent of NASA. The meeting was held in Toranomon Hills, Tokyo. According to JAXA vice president, Koichi Wakata, the first lunar hydrogen rover is expected to be launched in 2029, and a fleet of them "will be an important part of human lunar exploration".
At the time of Tesla, Musk plans to send humans to Mars between 2024 and 2032. It will be interesting to see who conquers first space, a Tesla or a Toyota.
