MOORE, Okla. – Two of Moore’s parents face murder charges after their 6-year-old son died of an overdose.

Although the incident occurred in March, charges against Jerimy McKenna and Kimberly Blair were filed just days ago.

The two are also accused of neglecting their 2-year-old son.

Cleveland County District Attorney Greg Mashburn said the second degree murder was filed after investigators received the toxicology report and the medical examiner’s report.

On March 28, the boy was found dead in his Moore home. Court records show the child had significant amounts of methadone in his system, a drug Blair takes for his opioid addiction.

While McKenna has denied intentionally giving the boy methadone, court records show he admitted he could have done more to secure the methadone bottles.

Based on court documents, the couple’s 2-year-old son also tested positive for methadone, leading to negligence charges.

On Tuesday, McKenna and Blair appeared in court on Tuesday and were released after posting bail. A hearing is set for October 5.
