MOORESVILLE, NC (WBTV) – The wife of a Mooresville man who went viral on TikTok describing hospital conditions regarding unvaccinated COVID-19 patients filling hospital beds has died, has learned WBTV News.

WBTV News told you about this story earlier this month.

Jason Arena posted a passionate video on TikTok as his wife, Marilyn, was sick in hospital with cancer.

According to Arena’s TikTok, Marilyn passed away on August 20. She had stage 4 breast cancer and had to go to the hospital for certain symptoms.

However, Arena said she was out early because the hospital was filled with unvaccinated COVID patients.

More than 90 percent of people hospitalized with COVID-19 are not vaccinated. This problem overwhelms hospitals and staff.

For Arena, a hospital bed means caring for his wife. She was in the biggest fight of her life.

She died 15 days after Arena posted a TikTok video, which went viral, criticizing those who choose not to be vaccinated against COVID-19.

“My wife is very sick. She’s, you know, she’s fighting… it’s been a long fight, ”Arena told WBTV last month.

Marilyn had metastatic breast cancer which spread to her liver.

That meant multiple hospital visits – which are now filled with COVID patients.

“It’s the last place a cancer patient wants to be,” Arena said.

Last month Marilyn’s wife was having trouble breathing, so they decided a trip to the local hospital was needed.

“We stayed there for 13 hours, waiting for a room, she did not make herself comfortable, through no fault of the hospital staff, until 10 pm, we arrived at 4:30 am”, he said. -he declares.

The Mooresville native says his wife was released early to make room for COVID patients.

While his family ** is ** vaccinated, he also says he understands that people have the right to choose. But in a heated TikTok video, he slammed those who continue to downplay the severity of the disease and question medical professionals.

“If you really believe COVID isn’t real, and you really believe it’s okay, and you really believe you don’t need to be vaccinated, that’s your **** right. . I’m not going to argue with you about this, but what I am going to discuss with you is running to the hospital after you contract the virus. If you don’t trust the medical field to keep you from getting it, why do you trust them to cure you of it, ”he said in the video.

Arena added that he was grateful for the support given to his family.
