Cloudy skies did not let much rain fall over Santa Barbara County on Saturday, as the first of three storms hit the area.
As of 4 p.m. on Saturday, the Department of Public Works’ precipitation tracking showed most areas of the county had received less than 0.3 inches in the previous 24 hours.
“The first in a series of three storm systems will continue to move through the area this evening, then a stronger storm system is expected Sunday afternoon through Monday with better chances of rain and snow in the mountains.” , the National Meteorological Service said in its forecast. discussion.
Snow dusting was reported at higher elevations and several locations reported hail accumulations.
A colder storm is expected to head into the county on Sunday night and Monday, and local daytime temperatures are expected to drop to the 50s early next week, according to the National Weather Service.
Snow levels from this storm are expected to be 3,500 feet to 4,000 feet Sunday night and drop to elevations of 1,500 to 2,500 feet on Monday.

Windy weather is also in the forecast, with gusts of up to 20 mph Sunday night and 30 mph Monday night.
The possibility of low-level snow and high winds means there is a winter storm watch in effect Sunday evening through Monday evening for Santa Barbara, Ventura, and the mountains of Los Angeles County, including the San Pass. Marcos, the San Rafael Wilderness and the Dick Smith Wilderness Area.
