When she saw an article in the New York Times that said murder rates had recently hit the highest levels in 50 years, former White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany was quick to jump on Twitter and to blame Joe Biden. The problem was that the statistics dated back to 2020, when her former boss Donald Trump was in charge. More recent figures show murder rates have actually declined since Biden took office.

– Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, as a born-again deficit hawk, has refused to raise the debt ceiling. He seems to have conveniently forgotten that government debts are not about current spending, they are payments owed for decades of overspending by politicians on both sides of the aisle, with $ 8 trillion added during the Trump presidency (when McConnell was majority leader). Refusing to pay your bills doesn’t make you financially responsible, it makes you a deadbeat. At least the “tax and spend” Democrats are trying to pay for their programs, while the “borrow and spend” Republicans are not.

– Analysis from MarketWatch has shown that since June, the COVID death rate in dark red counties (at least 70% voted for Trump) is almost five times higher than the death rate in dark blue counties (less than 32% voted for Trump). Tragically, the politicization of vaccines and masks by the GOP is literally killing their own voters. But hey, I bet horse dewormer sales are on the rise in those red counties!
