Oregon Governor Kate Brown is sending an additional 17,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines to the Portland area.
She announced the additional doses on Wednesday in response to concerns from Multnomah, Washington and Clackamas counties over vaccine shortages.
Health professionals from Kaiser Permanente, Legacy, OHSU and Providence prepare for the opening of a COVID-19 vaccination clinic to be held at the Oregon Convention Center on January 27, 2021. The clinic will be operating at least this week and aims to give 2,000 vaccinations per day to pre-registered recipients.

The three counties in the Portland area expected to receive 15,000 first doses of the vaccine this week, with almost 3,000 earmarked for educators as the governor pushes to reopen schools.
Portland area health officials have warned they risk not being able to vaccinate others high on the priority list – possibly leaving adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, workers in the home health, dentists and others in the medical field wait weeks or months.
The additional doses will help speed up vaccination efforts for these populations, while allowing school workers to continue receiving doses so that schools in the area can move forward with plans to reopen.
