Most Final Fantasy Games Microsoft Promises Game Pass Still Missing

At the end of 2019, Microsoft announced 10 Final fantasy games would come to Game Pass the following year. As of early 2021, most of them are still missing, although Microsoft says they will eventually get there.

At the X019 live event in London towards the end of 2019, Microsoft announced a bunch of big games coming soon in its library of Netflix Game Pass-like subscriptions. These new games, which all included Final Fantasy of VII at XV (excluding MMOs), would have arrived “this holiday and in 2020”. From now, almost 14 months later, only Final Fantasy VII, VIII, IX, and XV have been added. Reddit is lots of wires players asking when the rest will finally arrive. In one statement to TrueAchievements, a Microsoft spokesperson did not acknowledge the apparent delays, but said the other Final fantasy games are still on their way to one day making it to Game Pass. “As we announced at X019, we are delighted to bring the Final fantasy franchise to gamers with Xbox Game Pass, ”the spokesperson said. “We have been doing this throughout 2020 and will continue to do so in 2021 and beyond. We look forward to announcing specific launch dates for more Final fantasy titles in the future. “

Square Enix has spent the last few years remastering some of its older ones Final fantasy games and bring them to new platforms. Final Fantasy X, first released for PS2 in 2001, was remastered for PS3 and Vita in 2013, and finally ported to Xbox and Nintendo Switch in early 2019. Most recently, Square was released an excellent remaster of Final Fantasy XII.

While both can be purchased on Xbox One and Series X / S, neither are on Game Pass yet. This is easy to understand given that they are still potentially in high demand and also play very well on the Switch. After a year of waiting to play them on Game Pass, I almost decided to buy them a third time on Nintendo’s handheld over the holidays. I gave in, however, and went back to playing Final Fantasy X on my Vita. I hope I won’t always be faced with the same conundrum next Christmas.
