Most House Republicans shut up on Marjorie Taylor Greene’s violent comments as Democrats condemn them

A spokesperson for McCarthy told Axios that the congressman’s comments “are deeply disturbing and Chief McCarthy plans to have a conversation with the congressman about them.”

Republican Adam Kinzinger of Illinois, a frequent critic of former President Trump who urged Republicans to speak out against QAnon, responded critically to CNN’s KFile report by tweeting: “She’s not a Republican. In a January 2019 post, Greene liked a comment that said a bullet to the head would be faster to fire House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. In other articles, Greene liked comments about the execution of FBI agents who he saw as part of the “deep state” working against former President Donald Trump.

After CNN contacted Greene, her personal Twitter account issued a statement in which she did not deny that she liked the posts and responded to comments, but claimed that many people had managed her Facebook page.

“Over the years, teams of people have managed my pages. Many posts have been liked. Many posts have been shared. Some did not represent my views. Especially the ones CNN is about to broadcast on the internet,” she wrote.

Greene did not clarify whether she or a member of her team was behind the posts reviewed by CNN’s KFile.

A number of Democrats have spoken out against Taylor Greene in the wake of the report, suggesting the MP poses a threat because of her rhetoric.

Former Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton tweeted in response, “This woman should be on a watch list. Not in Congress.”

House Rules Committee Chairman Jim McGovern, a Democrat from Massachusetts, tweeted: “And they are wondering why we don’t want MPs to carry guns on the House floor.”

Taylor Greene also faced backlash over the recently resurfaced comments about the Parkland School shooting.

Students who survived the Parkland, Fla. School shooting and families of the victims called for Taylor Greene’s resignation after comments surfaced that showed her agreeing with those who said that the 2018 shooting was a “false flag” operation.

Taylor Greene tweeted Tuesday that she was “very excited” to join the House Education and Labor committee after Ranking Member Virginia Foxx announced her appointment to the committee.

CNN has reached out to the chairman and senior member of the House Education and Labor Committee about Greene’s appointment with no response so far.

Democratic Representative Haley Stevens, who sits on the Education and Labor Committee, called for Greene’s impeachment in a statement provided to CNN.

“I am deeply disturbed by the discovery of Representative Greene’s denial of the Parkland School shooting and the video showing her publicly taunting a teenage survivor of the massacre. The GOP conference erred in the offensive by placing her in the committee.”

Stevens said: “I respectfully ask the GOP conference to withdraw its appointment to the Education and Labor Committee as his appointment does not represent the deep care and concern that all members of Congress should show for American children. His hurtful antics are a distraction from addressing the challenges our nation faces and threaten children across the country. I will always be a strong advocate for American children and fight to make our schools safer. I pray for Representative Greene and I hope the GOP conference gets over this evil quickly. “
