IRON MOUNTAIN – Ironwood fell to host Iron Mountain 7-1 in women’s tennis on Wednesday as the Mountaineers swept away singles matches.

As the Mountaineers attend the Mid-Peninsula Conference today in Westwood, coach Marcus Celello said he was encouraging to see the team play well.

“I’m proud of the way Hailey Greenleaf and Mia Vedin played (at # 4 in doubles)”, he said. “After losing their second set and falling behind in the third, they showed a lot of courage in continuing to fight until the end point.”

The duo clinched a 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 victory.

“After a slow start to the year by our standards, our girls are playing well just in time for the playoffs,” Cello added.

Natalia Brown of Iron Mountain claimed the victory 6-0, 6-0 in the third single on Wednesday.
