MSNBC presenter Nicolle Wallace praised President Biden’s speech amid the turbulent military withdrawal from Afghanistan that led to the brutal Taliban takeover.
With the security situation in Afghanistan rapidly deteriorating, Biden returned to the White House on Monday amid mounting pressure to deal with current events. Biden spent much of his time blaming past administrations and Afghan military forces for the situation in the country before declining to answer questions from the media after finishing his remarks.
“It is wrong to order US troops to step up their efforts when the Afghan armed forces itself would not,” Biden said of the collapse of the Afghan army, a fighting force Biden has assured. to the Americans last time prepared for absence of the US military.
Biden assured Americans that he “fully supports” his decision to leave Afghanistan, although he admitted that the pace of the Taliban offensive had caught his administration off guard.

Fox News contributor Joe Concha also said Wallace’s remarks were “the disconnected thing you’ll hear any host say.”

Wallace’s claim of “95%” appears to be a significant exaggeration, at least compared to a recent Morning Consult / Politico poll that was released on Monday, showing that only 49% of voters support the Afghan withdrawal after 69% backed the decision in April before the Taliban took power. Another recent poll from the Trafalgar Group and the Convention of States Action shows that nearly 70% of Americans disapprove of Biden’s handling of the withdrawal.
