WASHINGTON (Reuters) – A senior US Justice Department official said on Friday that Special Advocate Robert Mueller will release a much-awaited report next week on his investigation into possible Russian interference in the elections. US.
"Any report that the report of the special adviser will be submitted to the DOJ during the week of February 28 is inaccurate," said the official.
CNN reported Wednesday that the Justice Department could announce as early as next week that Mueller had submitted his report to Attorney General William Barr. Barr will review the findings and submit his own summary to Congress, CNN reported.
"It's no wonder they do not publish reports as long as the Vietnamese president is engaged in a high-stakes international diplomacy," said one close to the administration, referring to the meeting of the President Donald Trump with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.
The Mueller probe has trapped many of Trump's political confidants. Despite everything, Trump has repeatedly said that there was no collusion between his 2016 campaign and Russia and had called the witch-hunt investigation. Russia has denied electoral interference.
