YouTube loads 5 times slower on Firefox, Edge than Google Chrome: Mozilla

Mozilla claimed that Google's redesign of Google has worsened on the Firefox browser and Microsoft's Edge compared to Chrome. In several other articles, Peterson mentioned some workarounds for Edge and Firefox browser users. They basically involve the use of extensions to restore the pre-Polymer version of YouTube. He also suggested that another way to solve the problem would be to offer the old version of YouTube to users on the affected browsers, which is what Google does for Internet Explorer 11 .

Interestingly, Peterson says the latest Polymer versions support both the Shadow DOM v0 and v1 APIs, but Google still uses Polymer 1.0 with the obsolete API . Notably, Google has not yet commented on these claims.

To force YouTube to go back to old design and avoid slow loading speeds on non-Chrome browsers, there are several options. Mozilla Firefox users can download a classic YouTube extension. Meanwhile, Safari and Edge users will need to use a custom Tampermonkey script to get the classic design.

Edge users will need to download Tampermonkey for Edge from the Microsoft Store. After enabling Tampermonkey in the browser, download a user script to force YouTube to switch to classic mode. Safari users can also download Tampermonkey. Similar to the previous method, download the same user script after enabling Tampermonkey in the browser
