Ongwediva – Young people from the Oshana area said they hoped that a young man would be appointed governor to replace outgoing president Clemens Kashuupulwa, yesterday named ambassador of Namibia to Russia.
Kashuupulwa, 70, has been Governor of Oshana for 20 years, since 1998.
According to young people, the region needs a governor who understands his needs, which will help the government deal with their problems.
"We want a governor who understands the economic situation of this country, a governor who sees the current youth in the future of Namibia because we are the future leaders," said Agatus Antanga, secretary of the People's Democratic Movement ( PDM) in Oshana. Antanga said he expected a governor ready to lead without fear or favoritism.
"I want a governor who will bring together all Oshana residents under one roof and who will not discredit the age group or political affiliation." But most of all, he will be able to ensure a fair and equitable development. in the region, "said Antanga.
