Mr. Bisey / Uirab, Director General of the Namibian Ports Authority and Professor Kingo Mchombu, Acting Vice Chancellor of the International University of Namibia (IUM), signed a Memorandum of Understanding last week aimed at to guarantee the practical experience at Walvis Bay Harbor in their respective fields of study.

/ Uirab, said: "This agreement will provide IUM students with opportunities to do internships in Namport for on-the-job training complementing the basic knowledge they have." acquired from the institution of higher education. "

He expressed the hope that the two organizations would collaborate on research projects beneficial to both parties and for the benefit of Namibia.

/ Uirab said human resource development was one of the Port Authority's major imperatives, as success depends on the quality of the staff of an entity.

Through its internal learning initiatives, Namport has an internal scholarship program for staff members enrolling in postgraduate studies.

Prof Mchombu said the agreement serves to cement the strategic relationship between the two institutions and describes it as a tremendous growth opportunity for all involved.

A working committee will be established to ensure that everything described in the agreement is implemented.

Earlier this year, Namport also signed a similar agreement with the Namibian Training Authority.
