Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said he had never asked to speak to his American counterpart Donald Trump, stressing that such a meeting would not be "appropriate".
Mr. Rouhani made these remarks during an interview with CNN Tuesday during his stay in New York for the 73rd session of the UN General Assembly.
The Iranian president reacted to Trump's tweet on Tuesday, in which he tried to suggest that he had rejected requests for meetings with the Iranian president, but that he could agree to discuss "someday in the future".
