One woman lost one third of her body weight after surgery to remove a 26 kg ovarian cyst, the weight of seven newborns.
Despite many negative pregnancy tests, the doctors insisted that Keely Favell had to be pregnant because her stomach was getting bigger.
When asked about the deadlines, she avoided the embarrassment of people playing with them.
But the 28-year-old woman thought herself "just fat".
Ms. Favell from Swansea started gaining weight in 2014.
"I've always been stocky, but in the last two years, I've gradually had that belly," she said.
"He climbed so slowly that I did not know something was wrong, I just thought I was putting wood.
"I have been with my partner Jamie Gibbins for 10 years and have wondered a few times if I was pregnant – but we did home testing and they always spread it."
She said it was "so embarrassing" to explain that she was not pregnant: "I would accept that to prevent everyone from blushing."
After losing her office administrator position, Ms. Favell had the courage to see a general practitioner in 2016. She stated that she had to be pregnant despite negative blood tests.
"Looking at me, no matter who would have thought that I had left for nine months.
"It was not the first time I thought I was a mother-to-be … People had seen me walking around, carrying this bump, and I had been asked a few times to my mother. deadline."
Still believing that Ms. Favell was pregnant, her GP referred her for an ultrasound in January of last year.
"I was lying with Jamie next to me while the radiologist was moving the probe over my stomach." I saw his eyes widen in horror, but the screen was just empty.
"Her face was saying everything: something was wrong and when she said that she had to find a consultant, I started to panic, Jamie did her best to reassure me but I was I felt paralyzed by fear. "
She was sent for an emergency scanner that revealed a cyst surrounded by fluid.
"[The consultant] I said that I was not fat – I was actually pretty thin. "
Ms. Favell was referred to a high-risk obstetric consultant and reviewed last February.
"At that time, even walking was difficult and I had difficulty breathing.
"I will never forget the shocked look on his face when the consultant looked at me." He said that I had a large ovarian mass and that the only option was surgery. He could not tell what that was, exactly or how big. "
The cyst was finally removed last March and proved to be the weight of a child of seven or eight years old.
"They explained the size of this cyst and showed me the pictures, I could not believe I had been walking around for so long with this medical extraterrestrial.
"It looked like a huge pile of ice so I called it Mr. Whippy."
Ms. Favell left a large scar and stretch marks, but may still have children.
"I've lost sight of how simple things like driving a car or going up the stairs had become difficult – losing my size has given my life back, I can not thank my surgeon enough." "
