The regional coordinator of the Swapo party for Omaheke, Ruth Kaukuata-Mbura, also yesterday confirmed the arrest of Tjingaete in New Era, while stating that she should first meet Tjingaete in person to know her point of view before making comments.

Otjinene is one of the few Namibian constituencies not to be dominated by the Swapo party. The 2015 regional elections were won by Erwin Katjizeu of the National Democratic Organization for Unity (Nudo) with 1,529 votes, followed by Nono Katjingisiua (Swapo) with 965 votes.

Albert Kandjii of the Democratic Turnhalle Alliance (DTA) finished third with 261 votes, followed by Issaskar Hiakaere of the South West Africa National Union (Swanu) with 78 votes.
