A The Labor MP is the first to say that he is HIV-positive in the House of Commons after declaring that his condition was "deeply misunderstood".
Lloyd Russell-Moyle said, "Next year it will be ten years since I became HIV positive. I was 22 years old and I was diagnosed early.
"Since then, I have received first-rate treatment from the NHS. So, not only have I survived, I have prospered and my partner is safe and secure.
Mr. Russell-Moyle was commended for his "courage" and "tremendous courage". He is the second member to announce that he has HIV while he was a member of Parliament, after Chris Smith, and the first to do so in the House.
