Microsoft Scrub Notch References from Minecraft

The holder of the platform stands out from the controversial creator

Microsoft has removed any reference to the creator of Minecraft, Markus "Notch" Persson.

Twitter user décrépitlab noticed the quotes "Made by Notch!" and "The work of Notch!" were removed from the game as part of the latest fix (confirmed by PC Gamer).

Persson sold Mojang – with all the ownership rights of Minecraft – to Microsoft in 2014 for $ 2.5 billion. During a Q & A session after the transaction, a Mojang representative stated that Mr. Persson did not "want to take on the responsibility of owning a company of such importance."

In the following years, Persson became both prolific and controversial on Twitter, offering such jewels like: "I'd rather be a fascist cat than have a female dick."

Although many of his most controversial Twitter reflections have since been suppressed, Persson has developed an online reputation for fanatical commentary.

In an environment where companies are so protective of their brands, it is not surprising that Microsoft has decided to distance itself from Persson, although the company has not yet officially clarified its reasoning. It should be noted that he is still credited as the creator of the game, however.

Microsoft did not respond to the comment request in time for the publication.
