The Marquis of Bentley luxury cars promised that every new vehicle would be a hybrid vehicle by 2023. This decision comes as the company wants to adopt a greener technology before switching to fully electric vehicles.
The British company announced that by 2023, all its vehicles would be offered in hybrid configuration. Its first 100% electric vehicle should be launched in 2025. This initiative comes as many manufacturers seek to adopt partially or fully electric vehicles.
The first Bentley hybrid will be the Bentayga SUV, which is expected to hit the roads later this year. It will be equipped with a powerful V6 engine and an electric motor (which brings the total power of a V8).
Later, Bentley will release a hybrid plug-in version of the Flying Spur, then the Continental GT and its convertible model.
Although many other luxury car manufacturers have adopted fully electric models, Bentley said that it remained stable until the arrival of appropriate technology. He had previously indicated that prior to hiring, he wanted to see progress in terms of charging time and autonomous driving.
Experts know that the company expects solid-state batteries, which offer performance, battery life and reduced charge times. However, the first series vehicles to receive this type of battery will not be on the road until 2021.
