A food bank will be introduced in Katima

KATIMA MULILO – The Ministry of Poverty Alleviation and Social Protection will soon be presenting the food bank initiative in Katima Mulilo, in the Zambezi region, and has made this commitment. Last week, she trained nine members of the street committee responsible for distributing food.

The nine members of the trained street committees will be tasked with identifying needy households who will benefit from the food bank, which is part of the government's Harambee Prosperity Plan's seventh goal, which aims to reduce the number of households to zero. of death due to hunger.

At the launch of the training workshop, Deputy Minister of Poverty Eradication and Social Protection, Aino Kapewangolo, called on the trainees to ensure that only those extremely affected by the Hunger and poverty benefit from the food bank program.

"I want to call everyone here, including the food bank street committees, to become soldiers in the fight against poverty and to work together and work with the government to end poverty in our homes and homes. our country, especially here in the Zambezi, "said Kapewangolo.

The workshop was led by former Cuban ambassador to Namibia, Angel Dalmau, consultant for the establishment of the Food Bank for the Ministry of Poverty Eradication.
