Discover the 20 minutes of Anthem in action

Anthem was not as captivating at the EA press briefing at E3 this year, with a bunch of cut and poorly framed content that does not really show the game in its best light. A common theme on the show was how different the practice demo was. Although we have never had the opportunity to play there, the hallways have been filled with chatter among those who have had it, giving the distinct impression that BioWare really had nailed the feeling of transition between air and ground combat. Although there are still a few months and you are dealing with it properly, this new 20 minute demo of Anthem shows exactly what everyone was talking about.

The commented presentation of the gameplay shows the 20 minute demo that was present. at EA Play, giving you a glimpse of one of the many cooperation missions that you will be able to undertake with an assortment of different class mechs. I'm still a fan of Glass Glass types, but I'm an even bigger fan of the system that BioWare has put in place to avoid massive level differences between players who may not be as dedicated as their peers. The anthem changes accordingly in these situations, never blocking players off activities based on their level alone. So do not stress if you have to take this night and lose some levels to your friends.

The gameplay looks pretty shiny, and I really like the fluid transitions between jet-pack powered flight and ground combat. Although it still seems a bit slow, the freedom of movement does not look like anything in Destiny for example. This also allows the enemies of Anthem to adapt accordingly. When players give a range of moves that seems infinite, it only serves the game to have enemies that use and exploit the same way. This should result in more interesting shoot exchanges if they are executed correctly.

There are many things about Anthem that are still troubled. BioWare still needs to detail how the story will fit into its shared world, especially since the studio seems to think that both exist apart from each other. I would also like to see what other places are on offer, with the setting of the dark and dreary jungle already carrying my slim interest. But there is enough here to allow me to look from time to time, and I would even go so far as to say that Anthem looks much more attractive now than a few weeks ago. It will be released on February 22, with so many other games.
