Big Ten: Northwestern's Pat Fitzgerald Named Coach of the Year

ROSEMONT, Ill. – Pat Fitzgerald of the North West was unanimously voted Big Ten Coach of the Year.

The conference announced Tuesday half of its post-season awards based on the vote of coaches and media. Fitzgerald led the Wildcats (8-4) in the Western Division after losing a win in non-conference play and losing several novice players as a result of injuries.

Devin Bush of Michigan is the defensive player of the year and the best linebacker. Michigan State's Kenny Willekes was named best defensive lineman and Amani Hooker defensive back Iowa.

Five Michigan players have been named to the All-Big Ten team, along with Bush, joined by Chase Winovich, Rashan Gary, Lavert Hill and David Long. Joe Bachie and Willekes of Michigan State, Dre'Mont Jones of Ohio, Paddy Fisher of Northwestern and Amani Oruwariye of Penn State were also selected.
