Blue Water Shipping wins a big contract with Siemens Gamesa

Blue Water Shipping has won a contract with Siemens Gamesa for pre-shipment loading and transfer and the preparation of turbine components for four offshore wind projects.

The Danish company will carry out the Hohe See, Albatros and Borssele 1 & 2 projects in the North Sea and Coastal Virginia wind farm off the east coast of the United States.

The four projects consist of a total of 183 wind turbines, which are loaded onto installation vessels and shipped from Esbjerg.

The first deliveries out of a total of 47 have been completed and work will continue for the rest of the year and 2020, BWS said.

"We are very happy and proud to be entrusted to this mission by Siemens Gamesa Offshore", m said Søren Messmann, Head of BWS Operations, Port Services.

"This is a very important project for us that helps to maintain and strengthen our position in the logistics and warehousing industry of the wind industry."

Hohe See will include 71 Siemens Gamesa turbines of 7 MW, and Albatros should have 16 units of the same type. Borssele 1 & 2 will include 94 Siemens Gamesa 8 MW and Coastal Virginia turbines from two Siemens Gamesa 6 MW SWT-6.0-154 units.
