Botulinum toxin holds promise in postoperative atrial fibrillation reduction trials in patients with cardiac surgery – Science Daily

Postoperative atrial fibrillation (FAPO) is a common complication that affects one-quarter to one-half of patients after cardiac surgery. This can lead to heart failure, stroke, and longer stays in the hospital, resulting in increased cost of care. A new study reports promising results from two clinical trials using botulinum toxin (BTX) injections to suppress POAF.
