FOREST PARK – The eight cheetahs of the St. Louis Zoo, known as "Bingwa Bunch", have reached the age of one year on Monday. The three men and five women were born on November 26, 2017 from their mother Bingwa and their father Jason at the Cheetah Survival Survival Center at River's Zoo.

Out of more than 430 litters documented by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA), it was the first time that a female cheetah was producing and breeding a litter of eight cubs in a zoo alone. The average size of the litter is three to four cubs.

The young are now almost mature and weigh about 55 pounds.

International Cheetah Day is December 4th, 2018, but the zoo is a little early. On December 2, you'll be able to create your own cheetah mask, complete your cheetah passport, and learn more about zookeeper cheetah protection and conservation programs. The events will take place from 10 am to 2 pm near the cheetah habitat of the River Edge River.
