WINDHOEK – The Minister of Industrialization, Trade and SME Development, Tjekero Tweya, officially inaugurated last week Dr. Shapumba warehouses and offices located in the industrial area of North Windhoek. Tweya, who was the keynote speaker at the opening, said he was pleased to note that despite the country's economic difficulties, Dr. Erastus Shapumba, affectionately nicknamed "Chicco", was still able to invest millions of dollars to create jobs, while others withdrew. According to Tweya, this investment would result in an increase in consumer spending, which would have an impact on business growth and long-term economic stability.
Commenting on the expansion of his business empire, Shapumba attributed his success to the dedication of the clientele, which he believes is building customer loyalty. The new development in the Windhoek industrial estate will serve the growing interests of Shapumba, which currently includes 24 building supply stores, 12 long haul trucks and three farms.
At the opening, Shapumba emphasized that the trust and respect he has for his employees in carrying out their business-related tasks is the most important factor in the success of his business.
He added that he would continue to advance real estate development in Namibia through the Chicco group of companies. Recent investments by the group include the Ongwediva Corner Shop, a gigantic center of more than 11,000 square meters that is expected to employ more than 300 people. Upcoming developments by the group include Dr Shapumba Towers on Windhoek Independence Avenue and Oshakati Open Market Mall.
