Cleveland Cavaliers Exchange Kyle Korver at Utah Jazz

The Cleveland Cavaliers traded guard Kyle Korver to Utah Jazz against Alec Burks and two other second-round picks, ESPN sources told the league.

The Jazz (9-12) were determined to get out of their early season discomfort and sued Korver to boost their ability to clear the pitch with their shots. Korver, 37, was one of the most sought-after players in the retail market.

Utah sends its second-round picks for 2020 and 2021 to Cleveland, League sources said. The choice of 2021 is made through the Washington Wizards.

The Cavaliers were looking for Korver and guard JR Smith, who recently left the team. Korver had aroused keen interest in several suitors. Korver had 22 points on six of the nine three-point shots in a recent defeat against the Minnesota Timberwolves. He had been eager to pass to a competitor.

It's the second stage of Korver Utah, where he played between 2007 and 10. Korver played 16 seasons in the NBA, scoring 43% of his career scoring 3 points.

The Cavaliers are in asset acquisition mode, starting season 4-15. Burks, 27, averaged 8.4 points in 15 minutes per game for Utah this season.

Burks' expiring contract – $ 11.53 million – could have a value before February's trading deadline. The guard also has $ 1 million of unlikely bonuses in his contract.

The Korver contract is capped at $ 7.56 million this season and $ 7.5 million for 2019-20. His salary for the upcoming season includes $ 3.44 million guaranteed, the full amount being protected if he is not subject to a waiver before July 7th.
