FRANKFURT (Reuters) – The deal between Vodafone and its German broadband network marks a transparent attempt to save $ 22 billion on Liberty Global 's European asset acquisition, announced Tuesday Deutsche Telekom, who had mistreated her.
Vodafone had previously announced that it would give Telefonica Deutschland wholesale access to its high speed network in an attempt to obtain the agreement of the European Union's competition regulators on the Liberty contract.
"The Vodafone proposal is apparently an attempt to rescue a merger that is causing great concern within the European Commission," Deutsche Telekom, the German market leader, said in a statement.
Deutsche Telekom added that this proposal would not lead to the establishment of a single additional broadband cable in Germany, pointing out that this could even slow down the construction of high-speed fiber optic networks, a priority of the government.
