MANHATTAN BEACH, CA – Facebook is the most downloaded app ever for Apple iPhones. Has your favorite app made the top 10? Apple's Apple App Store is celebrating its 10th anniversary on July 10 and, to celebrate, AppAnnie's market research compiles a list of trends from the last decade, including the most downloaded apps, the most money spent and the disparity of market share between the iOS operating system of Apple and Google Android.

Since the opening of the iOS App Store in 2008, some 170 billion applications have been downloaded, and we have spent 130 billion dollars. In other words, Apple and the application makers have done very well. Apple takes a 30% commission on every app sold or in-app purchase. And on average, we have just over 100 apps installed on our iPhones and open just under 40.

Phones using the Android operating system dominate with an 85% market share, according to IDC market research. 15% for iOS, despite the fact that the iPhone is by far the best seller of devices. Because many Android models have a much lower retail price, there are many more androids in use.

AppAnnie has not felt the individual upload numbers in his rankings.

Applications other than the games that generate the most revenue all tend to be entertainment-related.

Streaming video service Netflix is no. 1, followed by:

Spotify, the streaming music service

Pandora the veteran music serpentine.

Tencent Video (from China)

Tinder dating service.

As for the current top 10, it's more or less the same, with some name games you may have heard of.

Hole.IO, the game is no. 1 on the map of App Annie, followed by:

The top three markets for applications are by far the United States (40 billion downloaded in 2017), followed closely by China (39 billion) and Japan (9.5) while the average American is 96 applications downloaded on our iPhones, France comes in first with 114 applications, Mexico being the lowest at 89.
