WINDHOEK – A group of former gang members who terrorized communities in south central Namibia and who have been victims of evil acts have undergone considerable social transformation. They are now spending all their energy to train other young people to dance.
Spokesman Ricardo Xolani, 28, said: "Namjive was created two years ago to create a drug-free, alcohol-free and violence-free Namibia. We want those with dancing talents to have a bright future with their God-given talent. "
Other members of Namjive are Goeffry Boois, Micheal Boois and Diapo Hoffman. The other goal of Namjive is to unite and empower the country's dancers so that they are not exploited by musicians.
When asked if he was a member of a gang, Goeffry Boois looked down before replying, "Yes. We were part of a gang that covered our criminal activities with a group of dancers. We have talent, but we have ruined our career as a dancer and the crime has no constant income, "said Boois.
According to Boois, his former gang belonged to Twisters, PLB, who later became a Druza dance group in Mariental. "We do not want other young Namibians to follow the same path as us and we want dancers to take their lives and their gifts seriously. The joy of dance brings out the spirit of dance, "said Xolani.
"Everyone has ups and downs. Xolani says that Namjive always prays before practicing because they believe that with God everything is possible and that the paths are smooth.

Namjive has also had events in Keetmanshoop, Gobabis, Tsumeb, Walvis Bay and Grootfontein and plans to open a dance school in Katutura early next year to train free young Namibians.
Namjive also prints t-shirts sold to raise funds for the group.
On Saturday, Namjive will host its annual dance and Clash of the Nation competition at Katutura Community Hall starting at 3:00 pm. The South African dance duo Chilli Bites will face Maspara Pantsula, winner of the annual Dance Off competition, while ten local bands will compete for the title of winner in 2018. The sponsors of this year's event are Air Namibia, Umti Lodge and Ees, who sponsors his drink and Vuma shoes.
