Google has been hit by a record fine of 4.3 billion euros ($ 5 billion) fine by EU regulators for breaking antitrust laws. The European Commission says Google has abused its dominance of the Android market by bundling its search engine and Chrome apps into the operating system. Google would also have prevented phone makers from creating devices that run split versions of Android, and "made payments to some major manufacturers and mobile network operators" to bundle the Google Search application exclusively to phones.
closer to last year after competitors complained that Google abused its market dominance in software as smartphones. FairSearch initially filed a lawsuit against Google in 2013, and the group included competitors like Nokia, Microsoft, and Oracle. The former CEO of Microsoft, Steve Ballmer, also called Google a "monopoly" at the time, and that the authorities should control. While Google and Microsoft ended their disagreements over Android patents a few years ago, this did not stop the EU from investigating the initial allegations.
Fine 4.34 billion euros to @Google for 3 types of illegal restrictions on the use of Android. In this way, he cemented the dominance of his search engine. Deny rivals a chance to innovate and compete on the merits. It is illegal under the antitrust rules of the EU. @Google must now stop it

The $ 5 billion fine eclipses the previous fine of 2 , $ 7 billion from Google's year on manipulated search results. Google is still appealing this particular judgment in a back and forth that should last for years. Facebook, Intel and Microsoft have all faced significant anti-competitive fines from the European Commission. Microsoft was sentenced to a double fine by the EU, after the software maker failed to include a ballot in a Windows 7 update. Apple was also ordered to pay back $ 15.4 billion in taxes to the European Union

Android has long been considered open source software, but Google has slowly added key components in its Google Play Services Software and related agreements. Along with anti-fragmentation agreements aimed at keeping manufacturers on the Android version of Android, most Android phones (outside of China) are now bundled with Google's software and services.
