The director's new film Barry Jenkins (Moonlight) is based on the novel by James Baldwin and follows the Tish couple (KiKi Layne) and Fonny (Stephan James) as they try to stay united in the face of the systemic racism that threatens to separate them when Tish gets pregnant and Fonny is thrown into jail for a crime he did not commit.
