After announcing that it would bring a smart plug to its range of accessories compatible with HomeKit from Tradfri in August, Ikea today introduced the new $ 10 HomeKit device available for purchase .

Whoosh! Screen cleaner

Originally planned for October, Ikea has just made available the Tradfri plug-in for the holidays (via Pocket lint). With its $ 10 price, it's the most affordable way to add HomeKit control to a variety of devices such as lights, fans, heaters, coffee makers and more. . Most competitive HomeKit connectors such as Wemo, iHome, iDevices, etc., start at $ 25 or more.

Ikea's Tradfri smart socket comes with a simple, white design. It also features a convenient swivel option to facilitate the use of devices with larger plugs without blocking the other socket.

Ikea notes that you can control the smart plug with its Tradfri app, but it added HomeKit support to the Tradfri line about a year ago.

Earlier this month, we also heard more about the company's smart stores. Prices could start around $ 100, which is considerably lower than the other options currently available. No word for the moment if these upcoming stores will also include HomeKit support. They are not part of the Tradfri range, with the product names Kadrilj and Fyrtur.
