The City of Windhoek informs the public of the suspension of the Chief of the Municipal Police: Chief Abraham Kanime, suspended since March 26, 2018 pending the completion of an investigation for alleged misconduct.
The investigation was completed and the chief executive [Robert Kahimise] received the report containing the findings of the audit firm charged with conducting the investigation.
The findings revealed that there was reason to institute disciplinary action against Chief Abraham Kanime
Therefore, pursuant to section 20 of the Services Regulations, 2013 Windhoek Municipal Police Department (No. 32 of 2013), the Director General is mandated to appoint an inquiry committee to preside over the disciplinary proceedings. ] The appointment of the panel is underway and the hearing will begin in due course. As a result, the suspension of Chief Abraham Kanime will remain in effect pending the completion of the disciplinary investigation, and he has been formally informed of this development.
