The Perth Scorchers rose to a victory near first place in the Rebel WBBL standings after defeating the Melbourne Renegades by 15 points this Sunday.
Comfortably beaten by the Renegades on Saturday, the Scorchers have managed an impressive 24-hour turnaround to split the weekend's WACA double header against the Melbourne team.
Perth captain Meg Lanning (70) and compatriot Elyse Villani (62) threw a hot and winning platform, combining 143 points for the first wicket.
This helped bring the Scorchers to 2-172, which was too much for the Renegades who responded with 6-157.
While Lanning was still on the way home from injury, the Southern Star Villani scored earlier by beating his skipper from 58 to 29.
Lanning then moved from the anchor of the sheet to the aggressor, the 143 points of the duo being the fourth largest in the history of WBBL and the second best for the first wicket.
Lanning hit three six in his 50-ball shot that proved the difference between the two sides.
"It was good to brew some at the end," she said.
"I was a bit slow early, (but) Elyse Villani m took the pressure off.
"Then we did a little team and I took over at the end."
Danni Wyatt (42) and Jess Duffin (35) paced the race while Renegades captain Amy Satterthwaite (34 absentees) was busy in the back half of the game, but the rate demanded climbed as the team progressed. Perth attack.
Heather Graham was the best bowler with 2-32. She climbed to the top of the scorers' table this season (15:14:40) and beat former star Katherine Brunt for most all-time wickets for the Scorchers.
