A former security guard who murdered his two children in Windhoek in December 2009 was sentenced to two life sentences today.
Judge Nate Ndauendapo sentenced Jonas Penovanhu Shinana (34) to life imprisonment. the murder of his son, Matheus Shinana (age 6), and a second life sentence for the murder of his three-year-old daughter, Emilia Naatye Shinana, at the end of Shinana's trial in the Windhoek High Court . The judge ordered that both convictions be executed simultaneously – leaving Shinana with an effective period of at least 25 years in prison before him before he could be considered for parole.
Shinana was found guilty on two counts of murder in November of last year
The two children were slaughtered in Shinana's house in Windhoek on the night of December 23 to 24, 2009 Shinana also tried to end her life by leaning over, but her suicide offer failed
