In 2019, the Landless Farmers Movement will change its focus from personal attacks and insults to real problems affecting the people, said Deputy Chief Henny Seibeb.
Seibeb said the movement, which recently applied for political party status to the Namibian Electoral Commission (ECN), will focus on issues affecting the population as it prepares to participate in the country's elections. 39 next year.
He made these remarks in an exclusive interview with The Namibian last week, in which he also talked about the LPM's plans for the 2019 national elections.
Seibeb said the LPM did not have an agenda against personalities, but focused on realizing their ideology of social and restorative justice.
Personal attacks and insults, he said, are not the political strategy of the LPM to save time.
He added that the use of vulgar language against people such as President Hage Geingob and the Minister of Agrarian Reform, Utoni Nujoma, was intended to emphasize their incompetence and their inability to keep their promises.
He added that in the last two years, they had to be tough to cement the movement and make it known to the electorate.
"We had to cement ourselves and people now know that the LPM is there. So, there are no personal attacks, and we have never attacked anyone. The only person we told to leave was Utoni Nujoma after his performance, and we still maintain that Utoni has to leave, "Seibeb said.
He added that "in the future, next year, we will not focus on individuals unless someone says something personal" , so I will answer. But it will be our turn to talk about LPM policies. "
Seibeb also spoke out against the criticisms he had received about the Voetsek Hage Geingob statements he made at the land conference last October.
According to him, the word voetsek means to leave, and it is used to hunt dogs and human beings.
"I said that he had to leave because he had been there for too long and that he was protecting Jack Huang (the Chinese businessman). We are also a radical movement and we are not only here to go begging.
"The difference between the other parties and us is that Swapo has determined the agenda of the other parties: what to say and what to do, but we determine our agenda according to what is going on on the ground, "he said.
"Swapo is confronted daily with direct and structural violence. They will drive people out of their homes. And then you cry about someone who just said to leave, oh no.
When people died in Lubango and when Nangolo Mbumba said voetsek to the people, did you question him about it? So if I tell Hage to leave, it just means resigning, stop talking and take over, "he added.
LPM's Labazana Kohima said at the same time that the strongest position of the next year's elections movement was its ideology of social democracy and its calls for restorative justice and respect for dignity human.
Kohima said the move had done enough to attract many people and that they expect to get more than 20 seats in parliament next year.
She added that the LPM would diversify its efforts to advocate for reforms in different sectors of the economy.
"Many people think that we will only talk about earth permanently. Land is not even our main concern, but we want to focus on agriculture in order to revive our manufacturing industry. The majority of our people depend on agricultural products, so we need to empower people at this level, she said.
"We also want to fight corruption. Our next step is the reform of the Anti-Corruption Commission. The first thing to do is to get rid of Paulus Noa and his deputy and strengthen the investigators, "she said.
Kohima also refuted the perception that the LPM was a tribal movement, adding that it was far from being a tribal party, as they were represented in seven regions.
"I really think that perception is unfounded. This is no reason because if you are going to say that we are a tribal, tribal party in which context and which tribe are you referring to? Is it Damara, Herero, Kavango or Nama?
"We have members from all over Namibia, which immediately tells you that we are not a tribal party," she said, adding that they were recruiting more members in all of them. the regions.
