DELAWARE, OH (WSYX / CNN) – A former nurse in Ohio who admitted to lying about terminally ill cancer is about to go to jail.
A judge sentenced Tawni Fuller to two years in prison on Monday after his victims told him how his diagnosis of fake cancer had ruined their confidence and stolen their time and money.
"The moral compass of this woman is broken," said one of them.
Fuller admitted to having simulated lung cancer, even going as far as wearing a cancer suit, leading his fellow nurse anesthetists to the Wexner Center of Ohio State University to assume his duties.
They also offered him gifts and support raising to thousands of dollars.
When they learned that the diagnosis was wrong, they were scared.
"At that moment, I thought about the gun that was in his bedside table and I even remember being afraid to get into the house to seize my belongings before my escape," he said. declared a victim of a clash with Fuller.
Fuller was even accused of having exploited the death of a friend 's husband. Tina Dalzell, a co-worker, said Fuller had simulated near-death experiences and claimed to have seen Dalzell's husband from the other side.
"What you've taken can never be reimbursed," she said. "Miss Fuller took me a long time. The evenings where I worked for Miss Fuller, and the times I took her food, were all that I could have spent with my husband. I did not know that the moment counted at the time. "
These victims were skeptical when Fuller apologized.
"I know I will never be able to repay all the pain I've caused you," she says. "I'm really sorry from the bottom of my heart."
And even the judge could not believe what he was hearing.
"It's almost bad what I've heard today," the judge said. "It's just a bad thing."
Fuller pled guilty to theft, forgery and telecommunications fraud.
