OnePlus has a better record than many Android manufacturers when it comes to pushing timely software updates to its line of deadly flagship phones.
Last week, the company reaffirmed its commitment to customers by promising two years of software. updates and three years of security updates from the launch date of each phone. This looks like what Google offers to Pixel shoppers.
Now, the company hopes that these updates will be faster for owners OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T as part of the update of its own Oxygen OS user interface. open beta 13 brings support to Google's Treble project, which allows manufacturers to push Android updates faster than before. The owners of both handsets can download the beta from today.

This comes after OnePlus has reneged on its promise to bring Project Treble to owners 5 / 5T (via Engadget) due to need for a separate storage partition and the fears that she can brick the handsets. The flip-flop means that the pair is now among the 20 odd phones that support Project Treble, the OnePlus 6 being one of them.
Since OnePlus 6 already supports the Android P beta, it is possible that OnePlus 5 and owners of OnePlus 5T will now be able to use it for a long time.

Project Treble has arrived as part of Android Oreo and represents one of the largest back-end changes that Google has introduced for a while.
