LEAWOOD, Kan. – Even though he is a professional football star, quarterback Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs took the time to surprise the children of Leawood, Kansas, and take them to the stores.
Children of the KC United initiative for sports and youth education thought they would go to the local Dick's sports shop for a holiday party, WDAF reported.
But instead of partying, the 15 kids went shopping with Mahomes, spending time with the QB and Dick's $ 125 gift card to every lucky kid.
It was part of Giving Tuesday, according to WDAF.

"I will never forget that, I will never forget it," said Joe Bane about the day with his hero. "It's like a dream come true."
But why would an NFL star take the time to spend time with her kids?
"I was this little kid," said WDAF Mahomes, son of a MLB pitcher. "I was the one who admired the athletes, I could see them and be part of them. I remember being part of those experiences, so I know how much that means for every child. "
Mahomes and Dick's Sporting Goods also donated $ 5,000 to the KC United program. It's part of the store's "Sports Matter" program, reported the Kansas City Star.
